Inthanon Royal Project Research Station

Inthanon Royal Project Research Station is an initiative by King Bhumibol to improve the living standards of hill tribes. It occupies 600 rai (243 acres) in the Hmong village of Khun Klang. It was established in 1979 as part of His Majesty's Royal Project Foundation. The research station carries out work on developing marketable crops, ranging from fruit trees to flowering plants, to help the surrounding hill tribe villages, composed chiefly of Hmong and Karen tribes.

There are many greenhouses where flowering plants such as lilies, roses, rhododendrons and many others are grown. There are also greenhouses for ferns and cacti.

From the Research Station, you can see a big waterfall. Unfortunately I cannot remember which is the name of that waterfall - if you do know, please write to let me know what's the name of the waterfall which you can see from the Inthanon Royal Proejct Research Station, so that I can update it on this page.

Getting there

The Research Station is located 90 kilometers from Chiang Mai. It is probably more worthwhile to visit it as part of a trip to Doi Inthanon, which can be arranged by a tour agency in Chiang Mai.
