Wat Mahawan

Wat Mahawan is a moderate size temple combining Lanna and Burmese features. The buildings and trees of Wat Mahawan are quite tightly placed. It comprises a Lanna-style viharn and ubosot on the east side while on the west side, there's a Burmese chedi, a ho trai and a square brick viharn. The buildings of Wat Mahawan is quite close to Tha Phae Road, so you can look from the roadside at the temple. It has a low wall that surrounds it. At the gate are Burmese chinthe facing out. Chinthes also stand guard in front of the viharn and at each corner of the chedi.

Getting there

Wat Mahawan is located on the south side of Tha Phae Road, between Tha Phae Soi 4 and Soi 5, to the east of the old city. On the opposite side of the road is Wat Chetawan.
